Food Safety
Fresh food requires proper handling to insure it is as safe as it is delicious. Sanitation, temperature control and potential biological and physical hazards are among the critical control points the farmer must monitor 24 hours a day, seven days a week to protect the quality and integrity of their products.
Each and every grower on Veloccity needs a written food safety document outlining their Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) listing their procedures and own scheduled as well as random audits performed from the field.
Midwest Foods will also conduct onsite visits for help in document preparation and safe practices. Additionally, Growers need carry liability insurance for all of their products.
The USDA has a checklist to help the farmer prepare a GAP plan. It is recommended that you use this form in preparing your own document. Click here to download.
